My cousin Dan heard my “shameless solicitation” for a Flickr Pro account and bought me one for my birthday! Ironically, my first two days with the account I either worked, stayed away from the computer, or logged in to find that Flickr was ‘having a massage.’ Now I’ve got iPhoto open on my computer and I’m looking for more photos to upload. Thanks again, Dan!
On my way to work (temp work until the company that supposedly wants to hire me gets off their butts) yesterday, my car died. It’s been suffering from rod knock since before I got it, but I couldn’t really complain all that much, since the car (an ‘83 Toyota Tercel) was given to me for free by someone who was leaving the island. About 3/4 of the way to work, after 20 minutes of its usual monotonous knocking noises, the engine defiantly shouted a loud *’THUNK* and fell silent. Utterly and completely silent. The wheels still worked, power steering still worked, brakes still worked, but the car coasted to its final stop on the Hana Highway. Destined to become one of the many cars that dot the roads here for a few days at a time before being carted away by the county, I abandoned the vehicle and hitched a ride the rest of the way to Kahului.
Last, but not least, I’ve been working feverishly on a new web application idea I had not too long ago, using the “Rails” framework mentioned on Unquiet a few times before. More details as I finalize the project, but I’m excited that I’ll actually finish one of my personal projects for once, rather than abandon it after the difficulty wore off!
Now, since I worked light demolition last night, I’m pretty tired. More after I wake up…

Jake, did you get the check I sent you for your birthday? It was mailed over two weeks ago, since then I did see that you wanted a subscription to flicker… I was going to get you that as well, but couldn’t get to the site as it said it was unavailable. Let me know if you did indeed recieve the card and check I sent. Love you, Mom
