I’m clean!

I have in my wallet a shiny new _and flimsy_ paper card stating that I have twice tested tuberculosis free, and that I have passed the 2-Step TB Test administered by the state of Hawaii. Other than losing several hours of my time, I suffered relatively little pain in the process - twice they stuck me with little needles and injected me with some toxin or other. Then, three days later, they’d look at my arm and declare the obvious: I’m healthy.

All of this, of course, has to do with my upcoming job. Apparently, working in many jobs here on the island requires tuberculosis clearance. Early on, when I applied at a temp agency, one of their first questions for me was ‘Do you have TB clearance?’ That job, which I didn’t end up temping for, was picking pineapples on one of the many pineapple fields on the island. They needed someone right away, and the TB test takes two weeks (Go on Tuesday to get stuck, go back on Friday. Rinse and repeat the next week.)

And the other news: We launched [yoga.abelson.com][y] to much fanfare and celebration. I’m still making little refinements here and there; what I really should be doing is working on getting icongarden.com back up and running.

Time for dinner!
