Geekitude and updatitude

I spent a good portion of the evening grocery shopping — and so did the rest of the island, apparently. Once I’d returned home, put away the groceries, completed my daily _asana_ practice and read a chapter of [Living With the Devil][devil], I dedicated my evening to learning how to use [xmlhttprequest][xml] to dynamically update web pages without having to reload the page. _Yes_, it’s an incredibly technical distinction when people are so used to clicking and waiting for the link to load. But I’ve seen some of the ways in which it can make the web easier to use, and that’s been a huge interest of mine since I started working in the web industry back in 1996. Some of those “distinctions” will probably find their way onto this site as I play around with the technology more.

My other project for this evening - tomorrow’s big project is to check the new job listings on the Maui Times web site - included retrieving another batch of photos off my digital camera and uploading them to [Flickr!][pix] (requires Flash plugin) so that they’d show up in my [photo gallery][pix2]. Now everything I’ve made public so far is in a set, all the Maui photos are in another, and my favorites are in the ‘Explore…’ set. Go take a peek!

And that’s all I wrote.
