Unquiet

So…

It’s been a while. I’ve been bouncing back and forth between ‘home’ (also somewhat ironically referred to as Paradise Gardens) and J’s place, which makes for a somewhat chaotic lifestyle. On the other hand, having little income isn’t as bad as it seems. Certainly not something I’d like to continue forever, but nothing to panic about. As far as income goes, I’ve started a few weekly landscaping jobs - one at ‘Paradise Gardens’ and the other at my yoga teacher’s property; those won’t rake in a lot of dough, but they help pay for yoga, gas and some food.

I’ve also been geeking out on the computer a lot more in the past few weeks - I think that’s partially because I’m feeling more able to focus (more caffeine helps!) - and recovering my interest in programming and web development. To that end, I’ve started to get my business sites (icongarden.com and good-words.net) ready for relaunch so that I can advertise for web and design work here in Maui. Now that I’ve had a couple of clients in the area, I’ll have an easier time finding more.

Apple’s Pages will make print design work a lot easier. A great new addition to my iBook. Oh, and too bad I can’t afford a Mac Mini!!!

I’ve been spending a lot of time surfing Del.icio.us, fixing my spam problem with SpamAssassin and SpamBayes - finally I’ve got my inbox under control, playing with Python, cleaning up my hard drive and old cruft on my web host, and I just discovered Spurl!, another interesting take on surfing. I’m also bouncing around 43 Folders looking for more organization methods.

So my big projects - organize my life, de-clutter my tools, and find new and interesting mind-play through collaborative sites like Del.icio.us and Spurl. I have a programming project along those lines in the works, if I can ever figure out how to write a good proxy in Python.

Sorry to anyone if I haven’t called you back recently. That’s a bit of my absent-mindedness showing through; I like to call it my ADD. I’m working on systems to help me to remember to brush my teeth and do other important things like ‘redesign web site’ and ‘Call Mom & Dad’ … some of you know how much trouble I’ve had finding one that works for me for the long-term. I’m still seeking the solution; any suggestions? Feel free to comment!
