Fort Hamilton, Bermuda

I’m back from Bermuda, and so is everyday life. The picture above came from my favorite part of the trip, when we stumbled upon Fort Hamilton, Bermuda’s old and never-used defense against the United States. I captured this scene in the moat of the fort, which has since grown into a little rainforest of bamboo, palm and other trees with a floor of all sorts of tropical flowers and plants.

To me, abandoned places like this remind me that time brings peace and calmness to all, even places of war. And with the excitement of the rest of the weekend, the few hours we spent wandering around Fort Hamilton seemed especially sweet.

I’ve got many more pictures to share; I’ve discovered a few things about my friends that surprise me, but in a good way. I’m more rested and ready for what comes.

And… FINALLY I’ve left the country to someplace other than Canada.
